Here we go, Steelers!

Pittsburgh's goin' to the SUPERBOWL!

I thought I would post this picture first to remind you that you can still have Black and Gold spirit even all the way in St. Kitts! I stayed up late to watch our boys win on Sunday (even though they almost gave me a heart attack by playing it so close the 2nd half) and Sunday evening when Isaiah and I went to Bible study, we was showing his Steeler spirit in his 'Go Steeler shirt' as he calls his Polamalu jersey that Uncle Matt and Aunt Carla got him for Christmas! We will be cheering for another Superbowl win for the city of Pittsburgh before long!

This week has been pretty typical for us. The boys went to school on Monday and I headed home to do some cleaning, laundry, and dishes for the day. After school on Monday, Isaiah wanted to stay and play with Damon even though it was rainy and we ended up huddling under the roof outside the prep school for a bit when it actually rained on us! Damon was pretty adorable in his raincoat and boots and the boys didn't mind being dirty or wet at all!

Look at that dimple!

Tuesday, Isaiah and I were at home together. We ran a few errands in the morning and spent the rest of the day at home and I went to worship team practice in the evening. On Wednesday, I drove the boys to school again and headed home to get some things done before I worked at 1pm. I helped Josh get his prayer letter started that we will be getting out to family, church family, and friends, so that you can donate time to pray for him and his team or donate funds toward his trip. Wednesday evening, we went over to the Johnson's for a mission trip meeting for Josh's Sudan team. Isaiah and I tagged along and he and Eli played and ran around the entire time we were there. Isaiah slept like a rock Wednesday night and slept in until almost 8am yesterday!

Yesterday was our regular pool day and we had quite a turnout. I wish I could remember to do better with taking pictures during pool day, but Isaiah is usually IN the pool or getting OUT to jump IN the pool, so I am usually IN the pool as well and thus, no pictures of pool day! We tried out Isaiah's life vest yesterday instead of his usual float and he seemed to really like it. He jumped in the pool more times than I can count and even went under water without a fuss a few times. Today, both my boys are at school again and I'm killing some time blogging in the student union until my shift at work at 11am. Tonight, I am planning on going to a girls' night at our friends, Jake and Alex's place. It's been a long time since I had a girls' night and left Isaiah home with Josh, so I'm hoping they have a good Father/son evening and that I can have a good time watching a chick flick and eating some junk with some very good friends!

I want to leave you with a few pictures of the most gorgeous rainbow I have ever seen. It was the whole way across the sky when Isaiah and I got home from school on Monday and of course the pictures don't really do it justice, but you can probably imagine how amazing it was to see a beautiful reminder of God's hope.

Our week in pictures

Elijah, Isaiah, and Damon on the see-saw at the prep school Saturday morning

Hey everyone! Hope you're all staying warm and safe in the snow and ice at home! I really wish we would've been around to see some more snow, so that Isaiah could've gone sled riding with Ella, but hopefully next Christmas I guess! Things have been good here. The AVMA visited this week to do a site visit and determine what they will recommend to the accreditation board in March. We're hoping they were very pleased with their visit and that they will recommend accreditation for Ross! If they do, then Ross will be accredited the same as all U.S. vet schools, which will mean that Josh won't have to pay lots of money to take a foreign equivalency exam and that would be awesome!

Isaiah went to school all 3 days this week and is doing great. As long as I can sneak out without him noticing, he doesn't cry at all and his teachers say that he always has a good day. We also found out that he doesn't use a pacifier to sleep at school at all, although he still always insists on using one to nap and sleep at home, so we have to figure out how to tackle that. I right now am exhausted enough with attempting to potty train Isaiah that I don't think I want to add another fight to the mix! Isaiah still has his good days and bad days with potty training. We've been trying to let him choose 'big boy underwear' to wear in the afternoons and evenings after school in the hopes that it will help him realize when he needs to go to the bathroom. So far, I think we're making progress. The beginning of the week when he peed through the underwear he just wanted me to hold him and I had to figure out that he peed in the apartment somewhere, but last night when he peed, he looked at us and said, "I need to go potty." I'm hoping that one day soon we'll make it to the potty BEFORE any of the peeing starts, so we'll see how that goes!

Isaiah and I went last Saturday morning to the prep school with Damon and his Dad, Harley. Jen and Eli also joined us a little later. We took the boys' bikes and Isaiah's scooter since there is a basketball court they could ride on and they were also able to play on the swings and in the sandboxes. It was really nice to have something to do on a day when Josh was studying for most of the day. I think we're going to try to make it a weekly occurrence and invite some other parents and kids this week, so hopefully Saturday mornings will turn into a big play date for the boys!

Yesterday, Isaiah and I went to our weekly pool day. Not too many people were there this week, but Eli came and that was all that really mattered to Isaiah! Before we went to the pool, Isaiah and I had a really nice morning playing at home and played with his new playdough tools for almost an hour! Once we got home from the pool, he took a good nap and then we played some more outside on the porch until Josh got home. Playing outside on the porch in the afternoons is pretty much a daily occurrence for us right now. The weather has been really nice since we got back. Even though it's still in the low 80's during the day, there is a nice breeze and once the sun moves to the other side of the island and our porch is shaded in the afternoon, the conditions are PERFECT and Isaiah really loves to be outside, so it's been great.

Isaiah decided he should run around with his Pool floaty ON!

My boys...relaxing on the porch.

Tomorrow we are going to go play at the prep school with Damon and Eli again and then after Isaiah's nap, our friends, Jen and Jason Chin, are having a pool party/cookout at their place in the afternoon as a welcome back for Jen and Ava and a meet and greet for their new baby boy, Tavius! I'm really looking forward to it. We haven't all gotten together since before break, so it will be nice to see and spend some time with everyone!

While we were definitely sad to leave our families back in PA, I have to admit that it has been nice getting back to our own home and daily routine. I think we've finally got Isaiah's bedtime back on track (he was going to bed later and waking up later while we were home), so he's been getting up just before 7 the past couple of days. It was nice for us to have the same sleeping setup while we were home and we've seamlessly transitioned back into sleeping in our room and Isaiah in his bed beside ours. Isaiah went back to preschool on Wednesday and had a great day and is there again today. He still cries when I leave, but stops crying as soon as I am out of sight and then has a good day, so I guess I just have to stop worrying about upsetting him and just get out of there, so he can get on with his day!

So happy to be riding his new tricycle!

Isaiah and I got to go to the pool with the other Moms and a few kids yesterday. Isaiah was in 7th heaven because his best friend, Elijah came to the pool. They had a great time playing, snacking, and running around like crazy kids! That's pretty much all to report so far. Josh is back to studying and attending classes, Isaiah is back to preschool and wearing mostly nothing but a diaper when we're at home, and I'm back to cooking, cleaning, and working at Hill's. Hope you guys aren't too cold up there in PA, but if you are, you should come for a visit. The weather here is the best it's been in the past 17 months we've been here! Love you.

Christmas Break 2010-2011

Just wanted to share some photos and memories from our Christmas Break at home, since I didn't take time out to blog. We had a wonderful break, a great time with family and friends, and loved being able to relax and enjoy being home. Thank you all for a wonderful holiday season!!!
