Stitches in St. Kitts! :/

Happy boy just a little bit before falling and cracking his head!
He loves wearing his "pack-pack" around the house!

Hey everyone! So sorry that it's been so long since I've posted something new! Life has been a little crazy for us with the start of the semester, Isaiah starting school, and me starting to work! We've also been dealing with a couple things with Isaiah. Last Thursday he fell at home into the corner of the concrete wall and got a nice gash in his forehead. I had to take him to the emergency room here in St. Kitts and sure enough, the doctor decided he definitely need stitches. He did great! He was definitely anxious being in a strange place with people he didn't know. He hated having to lay down on the gurney and of course cried a bit when they gave him a couple shots of novocaine, but once his little head was numb, he did great at holding still while they stitched up his head. The doctor only put in 2 stitches to hopefully minimize scarring. Because of his stitches, we decided to keep him home from school on Friday.

Just back from the ER....this is the HUGE bandage he had!

Pretty much as soon as it was all over, he was back to being his normal, cheerful self!

Here you can see his stitches underneath the Steri-strips

Thursday evening and into Friday, Isaiah started with a runny nose and mucous-y cough, so over the weekend he and I tried to stay close to home and not get any other kids sick. On Monday (St. Kitts Independence Day Holiday) we met Erin and Damon at the Marriott pool after learning that Damon and most of the other kids in Isaiah's preschool class were also sick! We had a great time relaxing at the pool with them! Once we made it to Wednesday, we decided Isaiah's head should've had enough time to heal and his snot ratio was diminishing, so we decided to send him to school on Wednesday. He had a very good day, but has been having a hard time saying good-bye to Mommy in the mornings and not wanting me to leave. They tell me that he stops crying about 2 minutes after I'm out the door and then there's no more crying the rest of the day, so I'm very proud of him for that!

Ready for the Marriott Pool on Monday

Happy to be out of the house and have some play time with Damon!

This past Thursday, it had been a week since Isaiah got his stitches and we were to get them taken out. Josh and I went together to take him to the nurse on campus at Ross. It was nice to have Josh there for support. Isaiah did GREAT! I thought it would pull and bother him a little bit, but he sat perfectly still and didn't make a peep while the nurse took both stitches out! His head looks a little rough, but it is making vast improvements each day. When my parents visit in a couple of weeks, they are going to bring some Mederma, so we can hopefully reduce the scar he will have. After he got his stitches out on Thursday, we went to our weekly swim day with other Moms and kids and Isaiah definitely seemed happy to be back to playing with his friends!

My little tan beach boy all ready to head back to school on Wednesday!

Looking a little rough, but there are the 2 stitches a couple days before they came out!

Josh studied as school yesterday, but made it home around 3:30pm. We all came home together after school on Friday and just hung out for the afternoon and evening and it was so nice! We got a repeat of that yesterday afternoon and evening as well and it was so nice to just spend some quality time as a family! I hope everyone is doing well at home. We are getting excited and Josh has started the countdown for Christmas break!!!

He's all happy and goofy now that the stitches are out!

Lovin' that serious cheese!

Back to School

My boys on the mountain overlooking both oceans

Hey everyone! Sorry that it's been a while since I've posted, but we have been busy enjoying a BREAK from the craziness of vet school! Lynne was here to visit for the first week of break and the 2nd week was spent as quality family time taking some trips to the beach and lots of family naps! We really enjoyed the break, although we definitely missed being home. Staying here for a break has us really looking forward to Christmas break when we'll get to be back home again! Josh did great on his 3rd semester ending up on the Dean's list once again. He's doing such a great job and I am so proud of him and really excited that all of his hard work has been paying off!

While Lynne was here we did some sightseeing, but mostly relaxed at the beach with her. Isaiah LOVED getting to see his Gaya as soon as he woke up in the mornings and he really liked reading books with her! Josh and I loved having her here as well. It was so nice that she could visit while Josh was on break from school, so we all could spend time together. Isaiah has also enjoyed getting time with his Daddy everyday over the break. It will be interesting to see how much he misses his Daddy now that Josh is back to school this week.

"CHEESE!"

The big news for us this week is that Isaiah is currently at his first day of preschool today!!! He was superexcited to go into his room this morning and see his friend, Damon! I was worried he wouldn't behave or have a tough time, but it seems like he's doing quite well so far. I stayed for about a 1/2 hour this morning and then have checked back in on him a few times (just peeking through the door, so I don't interrupt him) and he's been doing well. The teachers have reassured me that he'll be fine and I don't doubt that. I did cry once today as he walked down the hall with the other kids and holding hands with one of his teachers out to the playground....he just looked so grown up!!! I can't believe how quickly the time is flying by and that does make me sad sometimes. My baby isn't a baby anymore. :( I'll be picking him up from school at 3pm and I think we're going to play on the playground for a bit until Josh is done with class at 4. I'm sure it'll be nice to see my little man after having a whole day without him!
